Regulation Over Resolutions

Ever notice how most of us make New Year resolutions, but we almost never follow through with them?  Almost out of nowhere our goal felt unattainable or too unrealistic. Maybe we feel fatigued or overworked with new projects. And then we feel defeated, and our inner critic starts to judge and criticize. Maybe a mysterious pain in your chest shows up when you’re holding back the tears of frustration.


We usually make the mistake of trying to force these changes without addressing why we compulsively eat or abuse habits. Beneath our awareness are parts of ourselves that we’ve buried. These are the parts that control us and keep us imbalanced and unregulated. The root of it all.


When we suppress our emotions, whether it’s grief, anger, fear, stress, or even joy, we store those in our subconscious as well as our bodies.


Think about it:


  • Stress that’s never released turns into tension and maybe even resentment.


  • Unspoken heartache can manifest as overindulgence trying to silence those feelings.


  • Suppressed anger can show up as physical pain.



Our body is constantly speaking to us about what’s best in our alignment, within our boundaries, within our capacity. It may start as a soft whisper but over times can turn into a scream. It’s time to turn down the volume.
