Healing in Focus: My Self-Grief Interview

ree

When we think of grief, we usually think about losing someone we love. But grief has many faces and one of the most tender is self-grief.

Self-grief is the quiet, often unspoken ache we feel when we lose parts of ourselves:

  • The person we thought we’d be by now

  • The version of us that existed before illness, trauma, or major life changes

  • The dreams we’ve quietly set aside to survive

  • The energy, innocence, or freedom we once had but can’t seem to get back

It’s layered, complex, and deeply personal—yet so rarely discussed.

That’s why it’s such an honor to be invited again by Barbara Field to talk about the multitude of layers of grief on her YouTube channel, which is beautifully dedicated to exploring this very topic.

Barbara creates a safe space for real, heartfelt conversations around grief in all its forms, and I’m grateful to be part of it.

It’s the quiet mourning we feel for the parts of ourselves we’ve outgrown… or the pieces we’ve had to let go of to survive. It can feel confusing, heavy, and lonely, especially when the world doesn’t recognize it as “real” grief.

In this special interview, I’m sharing my own experience with self-grief, how it’s shown up in my life, how hypnotherapy has helped me navigate it.

You may find pieces of your own story in mine… and hopefully, a little peace, too.
